i enlisted the assistance of my hubby & his father to do the tile work, as we were quoted exorbitant rates for 27sqft of backsplash. for a diy job, the tile couldn't have been easier to work with. since it comes with a paper back, there is no use for spacers, etc. it gets a little tricky going from square foot to square foot, but the end result is really beautiful. we couldn't find a grout from mapei or spectralock in our city, so we had to go to a specialty tile place that carried unsanded grout. the color we found was antique white, which blends in quite nicely with the tile. doesn't 'frame' the imperfections like a white or darker khaki would have. grouting can be a bit tricky because it needs to be worked in to all of those nooks and crannys of the recycled material. be aware! these tiles have imperfections - they are recycled glass with streaks and striations and they're not perfectly square. if you want perfect, then go with something else. also, if your countertop has any black or dark colors in it, try to put spacers on the bottom where the tile meets the countertop so there is room for grout. i freaked out when i saw the tile without the grout next to the black parts in the granite because it looked like it was 'dirty'...that was easily remedied once the grout went on. good luck;)
