Trend's agglomerates are an engineered stone. The agglomerates are a mixture composted of approximately 93% "grit" or chips and 7% polyester resin. The grit may be of several types: quartz/granite/glass/mosaic, according to the line. The raw material is crushed into 9 different granulometries or sizes, then mixed with resin and sometimes pigments for the coloration.
The grains are selected according to the coring, size and type necessary to obtain the desired product line. The chips are then amalgamated with the resin in a large grinder with mixing blades that spin in opposite directions. The result is an extremely dense composite with uniform distribution of materials. The mixture is spread into a large sheet mold where the slab starts taking shape.
A fiberglass mesh is added to the back of the slab to make the composition durable and flexible. A layer of marble Botticino is then added to the back; its rough and porous surface maximizes adhesion of the glue used during installation.
At this point the sheet is taken to an oven where it is baked at a high and consistent temperature to ensure that the resin hardens. The final phase of production involves careful polishing with a series of varying grades of diamond heads to archive the desired smoothness and luster.
After this the slabs are cut, chamfered and tested by quality control.
